About Us

Welcome to Drunk On Software, where we discuss all aspects of software and share beverages. Currently, much of our time is invested in rich Internet applications (RIA). So, many of our discussions revolve around technologies like Adobe Flex, but we frequently branch out into other topics. Enjoy Responsibly!

Co-host: James Ward (www.jamesward.com) is a Technical Evangelist for Flex at Adobe and Adobe’s JCP representative to JSR 286, 299, and 301. Much like his love for climbing mountains he enjoys programming because it provides endless new discoveries, elegant workarounds, summits and valleys. His adventures in climbing have taken him many places. Likewise, technology has brought him many adventures, including: Pascal and Assembly back in the early 90’s; Perl, HTML, and JavaScript in the mid 90’s; then Java and many of it’s frameworks beginning in the late 90’s. Today he primarily uses Flex to build beautiful front-ends for Java based back-ends. Prior to Adobe, James built a rich marketing and customer service portal for Pillar Data Systems.

Co-host: Jon Rose (www.ectropic.com) is an enterprise software consultant and Flex Practice Director at Gorilla Logic, Inc. located in Boulder, Colorado. He is an editor and contributor to InfoQ.com, an enterprise software community. He is the co-host of DrunkOnSoftware.com, a videocast for those who like booze and bits. He has worked with clients large and small in both the private sector and government. His love of solving problems drives him to build quality software.

West Coast Correspondent: Chet Haase (graphics-geek.blogspot.com) is a member of the Flex SDK team, where he works on graphics and animation issues. His background is in graphics technologies and he is the co-author of the book “Filthy Rich Clients,” which is aobut techniques for creating graphically-rich Java applications. He is also the author of the book “When I am King…,” which has nothing to do with Java, Flex, graphics, or, well, anything.
